Territory

Our Headquarters

The main headquarters of the Clana Foundation is a demonstration space in Laguna Verde, Valparaíso, where we research, implement, and share alternatives for inhabiting the territory more sustainably. In this place, we have spaces for organic agriculture (quinoa, corn, amaranth, and vegetables), native flora and fauna, green technologies (dry toilets, solar panels, water recovery and reuse, waste recycling and reuse, among others), and a dome that serves as a gathering space for the community and for hosting our workshops.

Laguna Verde

Laguna Verde is a community located within a part of a biosphere reserve (with potential for expansion), composed of a bay, a cliff, a small urban center, and a large amount of forest, native flora, and fauna, situated to the south of the city of Valparaíso.

In recent years, there has been a population boom in the upper areas of Laguna Verde due to land speculation and irregular land divisions, which has exacerbated the existing issues in the area. These include severe structural problems such as lack of access to drinking water, limited environmental education, absence of electrical networks, deterioration of waste management services, high deforestation, fire risks, inadequate waste and wastewater management, among many others that affect the quality of life of families and the ecosystems.
